Tai-kai's recent dan grading.
Jack team 2.jpg
Members of Taikai Karate Association were put through their paces after a gruelling two hour squad training at athersley sports centre. Straight after the squad training was the black belt grading where 1 student continued for a further two hours demonstrating his techniques, kata & lots of fighting. Jack Murphy was put under immense pressure as he was the only student grading all eyes were on him the whole time, Jack stayed strong and focussed and passed his 1st dan - with flying colours, (of his kyu grade belts being thrown) well done Jack.

Sponsored Challenge  2010

This year Taikai raised money for Macmillans Cancer support.

The day was fantastic, Sensei Jodie set off with the first team and 20 flags, followed by Sensei Mel's team then last but not least Sensei Adele's team. Each flag had a number which represented an exercise, 50 exercises per flag which were as follows 1.Squats 2.Maegeri's 3.Star jump's 4.Gyakuzukis 5.Sit up's 6.Mawashigeri's 7.Parachute pull up's 8.Tobikomizuki's 9.Press up's 10.Sokutogeri's 11.Squat thrust's 12.Sit up's with double punches 13.Leg raises (from laying down) 14.Uraken uchi's 15.Jack knive's 16Uchi Mawashigeri's 17.Side sit up's 18.Yoko geri's 19.Leg raise's (from standing) 20.Gyakuzuki's across the body (jodan, chudan, gidan from shiko dachi).

Then the adults (plus a few very energetic juniors) went around again.

So as you can see it was a tough one, everyone did a fantastic job, the parents showed great support, and Mr Burgin's bbq skill's were excellent. Once everyone had had a bite to eat the squad then went on to play rounders and football. Which the teams (just for the record) were mixed so katsu kai aren't the only ones lacking any rounders or football skills.
